Cancellation & Refund Policy
Last Updated: November 14, 2025
Important Note
Cancellation and refund policies are determined by the individual accommodation provider or activity operator, not by Telluride Ski Hotels. Policies vary by property, rate type, and booking date. Always review the specific cancellation terms for your reservation before booking.
1. Understanding Cancellation Policies
When you book through Telluride Ski Hotels, you enter into a direct contract with the accommodation provider or activity operator. Each provider sets their own cancellation policy, which is clearly displayed during the booking process and included in your confirmation email.
Common cancellation policy types include:
Free Cancellation
- Cancel up to 24-72 hours before check-in for a full refund
- Most common for mid-range and budget accommodations
- Specific deadlines vary by property
- Cancellations after the deadline typically forfeit the first night or full booking
Flexible Cancellation
- Cancel up to 7-14 days before check-in for full or partial refund
- May incur a processing fee (typically 10-25% of total)
- Common for luxury properties and peak season bookings
Moderate/Strict Cancellation
- Cancel 14-30 days before check-in for partial refund (typically 50%)
- Cancellations within 14 days forfeit full payment
- Common during peak season (Christmas, New Year's, February)
Non-Refundable
- No refund for any cancellations
- Typically offers 10-30% discount compared to refundable rates
- Common for advance purchase rates and special promotions
- Best for travelers with confirmed plans
2. How to Cancel Your Reservation
Option 1: Contact the Property Directly (Fastest)
For the quickest resolution:

What You'll Need
- Booking confirmation number
- Name on the reservation
- Check-in and check-out dates
- Property name
- Reason for cancellation (optional but helpful)
3. Refund Processing
Timeline
Refunds are processed according to the property's policy:
- Refund approval: 1-3 business days after cancellation request
- Processing to your payment method: 5-10 business days after approval
- Total timeline: Typically 7-14 business days from cancellation to refund appearing in your account
Refund Method
Refunds are issued to the original payment method used for booking:
- Credit card refunds appear as a credit on your statement
- Debit card refunds return to your checking/savings account
- Alternative payment methods follow their respective refund processes
Partial Refunds
Some cancellation policies result in partial refunds. The refunded amount depends on:
- How far in advance you cancel
- The property's specific cancellation policy
- Whether you booked a refundable or non-refundable rate
- Any fees or penalties specified in the booking terms
4. Modifications & Changes
Want to change your dates or room type instead of canceling?
Date Changes
- Contact the property directly to request date changes
- Many properties allow free date changes if requested in advance
- New dates are subject to availability and current rates
- Some properties charge a modification fee
Room/Guest Changes
- Minor changes (guest names, special requests) are usually free
- Changing room type or number of guests may require rebooking
- Price differences apply if upgrading or downgrading
5. Special Circumstances
Weather & Natural Disasters
Extreme weather events (blizzards, road closures, avalanches) may qualify for special consideration:
- Contact the property immediately if weather affects your travel
- Many properties offer flexibility for documented travel restrictions
- Travel insurance may cover weather-related cancellations
Medical Emergencies
Medical emergencies may be considered for cancellation policy exceptions:
- Contact the property as soon as possible
- Provide documentation if requested
- Travel insurance typically covers medical cancellations
Resort Closures
If Telluride Ski Resort closes unexpectedly:
- Most properties offer flexible cancellation or date changes
- Contact the property to discuss options
- We'll assist in coordinating with properties during resort closures
6. Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance, especially for:
- Non-refundable bookings
- Peak season travel (Christmas, New Year's, February)
- International travelers
- Group bookings or multiple rooms
- Expensive luxury properties
Travel insurance can cover:
- Trip cancellation for covered reasons (illness, injury, family emergencies)
- Trip interruption if you must leave early
- Travel delays and weather-related issues
- Lost or delayed luggage
- Medical emergencies while traveling
7. No-Show Policy
If you do not arrive for your reservation and do not cancel in advance:
- You will be charged the full booking amount
- No refund is provided for no-shows
- Remaining nights may be automatically canceled
Always contact the property if you cannot make your reservation, even if it's past the cancellation deadline. Some properties may offer partial credit or future travel vouchers.
8. Disputes & Resolution
If you have a dispute about a cancellation or refund:
- First, contact the property directly to resolve the issue
- If unresolved, contact our support team at hello@tellurideskihotels.com
- Provide all documentation: confirmation emails, cancellation requests, correspondence
- We'll work with the property on your behalf to reach a fair resolution
- For payment disputes, you may also contact your credit card company
